Why Choose Alipa Beach
Alipa Beach sits in a protected cove between the busier Main Beach and the more remote beaches of Paleokastritsa. While Main Beach attracts boat tours and larger crowds, Alipa remains relatively peaceful, perfect for travelers who want easy access without the noise. The pebble shore and rocky bottom create ideal conditions for snorkeling, with small fish visible just meters from shore.
The beach has minimal facilities, which contributes to its tranquil atmosphere. There are no motorized water sports or large tavernas blasting music. Instead, you'll find a quieter experience where the sound of waves and the occasional boat engine are the only interruptions. Bring your own snacks and drinks, or walk a few minutes to nearby beaches for taverna meals.
What You'll Find at Alipa Beach
Fewer Crowds
Alipa is less known to tour groups and day-trippers, so it stays quieter even during peak season. You'll often find more locals than tourists here.
Clear Rocky Waters
The pebble and rock bottom keeps the water exceptionally clear. Visibility is often 10-15 meters, making it excellent for snorkeling and observing underwater rock formations.
Excellent Snorkeling
Rocky outcrops along the shore provide shelter for small fish and sea life. Bring your own mask and snorkel, the shallow areas near the rocks are the best spots to explore.
Natural Setting
The beach is framed by pine trees and natural rock formations, with no large developments or commercial infrastructure to interrupt the coastal scenery.
Staying Near Alipa Beach
Alipa Beach is approximately 600-700 meters from Astacos Studios, a comfortable 7-8 minute walk along the coastal road. This proximity makes it easy to visit Alipa for a morning swim, then return to your studio for lunch or an afternoon rest. Unlike larger hotels that lock you into set meal times, our self-catering studios give you the flexibility to enjoy the beach on your own schedule.
Astacos Studios has been family-run since 1963. We understand that quiet beach access is often more valuable than flashy amenities. Our studios offer air conditioning, full kitchenettes, private balconies, and fast Wi-Fi, everything you need for a comfortable stay without the crowds and noise of a large resort.
How to Get There from Astacos Studios
Walking (8 minutes): Exit our property and walk south along the main coastal road. You'll pass the monastery turnoff on your left. Continue for another 300 meters until you see the sign for "Limni Beach" or "Alipa Beach." A short path descends to the sand. The walk is mostly flat and suitable for strollers, though the final path is steep.
By car (2 minutes): A small parking area is available near the beach entrance. Parking is free but limited, arrive before 10 AM in July/August.
By boat: Limni is also accessible by boat from the main beach. Some families with very young children prefer this option to avoid walking in the heat.
What to Bring
Beach toys: The sandy bottom is perfect for sandcastles, digging, and burying dad up to his neck
Snorkel gear for older kids: The edges of the bay have rocks with small fish
Sunscreen (reef-safe): The water is pristine; avoid chemical sunscreens that harm marine life
Cash: For sunbed rental (€8–10 per set) and taverna payment
Water shoes (optional): The sand is soft, but some families prefer shoes for toddlers
Small cooler: For snacks and water if you're staying all day
Best Times to Visit Alipa Beach
Early morning (7-10 AM): The water is calmest and clearest in the early morning, ideal for snorkeling. You'll often have the beach to yourself at this time.
Late afternoon (4-7 PM): The sun is less intense and the light becomes golden—perfect for photography and relaxed swimming. Crowds thin out after 5 PM.
Avoid midday (12-3 PM): The sun is at its strongest and the pebbles become very hot. If visiting during these hours, bring shade and plenty of water.
