Ampelaki Beach - Small Bay with Turquoise Waters

Discover Ampelaki Beach, a small, sheltered cove just a 5-minute walk from Astacos Studios. Crystal-clear waters, boat access, and authentic taverna make it a favorite hideaway in Paleokastritsa.

Why Stay Near Ampelaki Beach

Ampelaki Beach is one of Paleokastritsa's smaller, more intimate coves, a crescent of pebbles and sand flanked by olive-dotted cliffs. The name "Ampelaki" references the vineyards that once grew on the surrounding slopes. Today, it's prized by couples and families who want a quieter alternative to the main beach but still appreciate having a taverna and sunbed service within reach.

Astacos Studios sits just 400 meters uphill from Ampelaki Beach, making it one of the closest accommodation options. You can walk down in under 5 minutes via the coastal path, no need to drive or navigate crowded parking lots. This proximity means you can return to your studio for a quick siesta or shower before heading back to the water.

What Makes Ampelaki Beach Special

Calm, Shallow Entry

The bay is sheltered from northwest winds, keeping the water calm and clear. The gradual slope makes it ideal for children and less confident swimmers.

Boat Access

Ampelaki is a departure point for boat trips to Rovinia, La Grotta, and the Blue Eye caves. Several operators dock here in the morning.

Beachfront Taverna

The family-run taverna at Ampelaki serves fresh fish, grilled octopus, and traditional Greek salads. Tables are literally on the sand.

Great for Sunset

The west-facing orientation means beautiful evening light. Many guests come down from the studios just for sunset photos.

Apartments Near Ampelaki Beach Paleokastritsa

Staying at Astacos Studios gives you the best of both worlds: you're close enough to walk to Ampelaki Beach in minutes, but you're also just steps from the main beach where the Green Bus stops, shops, and other tavernas are located. This central-yet-quiet positioning is rare in Paleokastritsa.

Our studios and apartments feature kitchenettes, sea-view balconies, and fast Wi-Fi—perfect for couples seeking a romantic escape or families who want flexibility. We've been welcoming guests since 1963, and many return specifically for the easy beach access and genuine family hospitality.

What to Bring

Water shoes: The beach is mixed pebbles and sand; shoes make entry more comfortable
Snorkel gear: The rocky edges of the cove hide small fish, crabs, and octopus
Sunscreen: The cove is south-facing with little shade before 5 PM
Small waterproof bag: To keep your phone and valuables dry if you swim
Cash: The taverna accepts cards, but the boat operators usually prefer cash

How to Get There from Astacos Studios

Walking: Exit our property and turn left along the main road. After 100 meters, take the footpath that descends toward the water. Follow the signs for "Ampelaki" or "Beach 2." The walk takes 4–5 minutes and offers lovely sea views. The path is uneven in places, so wear sturdy sandals.
By boat: You can also rent a small boat or kayak from the main beach and paddle around the headland to Ampelaki, it's less than 300 meters by water.
